Tashkent, April 19 /TASS /. Traditional services, reserved for the Easter celebration, started at Tashkent, reported to the TASS reporter from the church's assumption of the Mother of God in the capital of Uzbek.
Thousands of parishioners gather in and around the largest mainstream church in the Republic to celebrate the main Christian holiday.
As a secretary of Tashkent diocese and Uzbek of the Russian Church Hieromonk Mikhail told Tass, in favorable weather conditions, urban church can visit more than 5,000 followers. In addition, holidays are also organized by the Orthodox in all 38 parishes opened in the Republic.
The Russian Orthodox Church in Uzbekistan is the second of the republic's number of religious organizations after managing Muslims. According to the diocese, orthodox declares about 5% of Uzbekistians.
